Hi All,
Summer, sweet summer has officially arrived! It's time for BBQs, swimming, entertaining the summer visitors and my favorite pastime; sitting in a comfy chair, on the porch in the shade, beading a summer bracelet (or even better) getting a jump on my holiday gifts. And there is no better time to get inspired than, CHRISTMAS IN JULY. The focus of the July class schedule is items and ornaments to deck your halls. Why July? Well, it gives you an opportunity to start holiday projects and have them completed well before the rush of the fall. Let’s face it, in September the kids go back to school and get busy with sports and after school activities. Then comes Thanksgiving and the holiday rush is on! So, while we have the softer, slower, hazy days of summer, we can relax, take our time and have fun with our projects instead of having them become just one more thing to get done by December 24th. So, if the days get too warm, you can think cool thoughts while making icy crystal snowflakes, and by December, your holiday décor (and wardrobe) will be shimmering.
The summer class schedule is hot, but the shop is air conditioned for your comfort. Some of the other class offerings will be “PRONGS” and “RINGS” with Mig. People have been clamoring for both of these classes, so, here they are, back by popular demand. If you’ve missed them before or have been meaning to take them, now is your chance. It will be a while before they are offered again, so don’t miss out. Also the “Prongs” class is a pre-requisite for a fabulous “Rivoli Earrings” class in August. Robin Stuart is back with her BEADED CABOCHON class. This, too, is a very popular class. So much easier than it looks and Robin will give her expert direction in navigating around these fascinating stones. Sue Daigle is back with another wonderful Japanese Braiding class in August and Chris Niet will see you in September for another of her wonderful designs. So, keep an eye out for more great classes and a trunk show or two as the summer heats up!
I’d like to say a word about BEADER’S NIGHT OUT. I would love to see more of you take advantage of this FREE night to gather together with other Beaders here in the shop and do what we all love doing best. BEAD, BEAD AND BEAD SOME MORE. This is a great opportunity to share your passion with others of like mind, pick up a trick or two and actually have time to finish off one or two of those Unfinished Projects that are lying in wait on you beading trays. You know the ones. This just needs a clasp, I forgot to get crimp beads for that, these need the right ear wires, etc. So, with the shop stock at your disposal, you can finish off those little lovelies so you can show them off or (even better) start an exciting new project! So, please, give me a call, reserve your seat and come on in and join old and new friends as we enjoy each other and our favorite pastime.
Before we go any further I want to let you all know that THE SHOP WILL BE CLOSED ON SATURDAY, JULY 3RD FOR A LONG HOLIDAY WEEKEND. Please take note and plan your shopping accordingly.
I will also be taking a week off in August. This will be the first time since my hip surgery two years ago (that definitely was not a vacation) that I will be taking a week that doesn’t include INVENTORY. The shop will remain open that week and be attended by Sharon Thompson. Sharon has been lending a hand now and then, for about a year. She is an able beader and has a good knowledge of the shop’s stock. As the time draws nearer, a schedule of days and hour will be posted and sent out via email so you will be able to plan your shopping. I do so appreciate your business and every effort will be made to bring you as normal a schedule as possible.
Below, you will find the schedule for July and parts of August and September. Watch for updates and new additions in a week or so. You can also check for updates on line.
Here’s to a fabulous summer and hope you all have a wonderful time.
See you soon and,
Happy Beading,
Linda

DAISY CHAIN NECKLACE THURSDAY, AUGUST 26, 2010 6:00-8:00PM
A lot of people have asked about a class for this piece, so here it is. The daisy is such a simple, sweet flower. And that is just the way I’d describe this variation on a daisy chain. Vines and flowers are both size 11 seed beads although, you could use any size or colors to change the look and make it truly your own. This is a very easy project for first time hand weavers.
