Happy Holidays Everyone!

Hello Everyone

A Sweet Summer has arrived at last. We have the A/C on along with beautiful music and a host of great classes with talented instructors to guide you. Let us welcome and thank the wonderful ladies who give their time and talents to us. They seek out and design and write instructions for pieces they know you'll love to learn. Each class helps you to advance your skills under the watchful eye of teachers who have reached a level of expertise in various areas of beading. What you gain from an in person lesson you cannot get any other way. Though these ladies have their specialties, they are all proficient in many beading forms. So, to: Mig Lemire (wire and Chainmaille), Marie Jacques (Freeform Peyote, Beading Basics, Russian Stitches), Sue Daigle (Leather Wraps, Japanese Braiding), Connie Foster (Just about ALL hand weaving stitches), Cherie Frith (Herringbone Ropes, Netting and many more bead stitches) and new to the schedule this quarter Trudy Kopyc (another proficient hand weaver), THANK YOU ALL!! You all make this shop a special place to be! Join us for a class. You won't be sorry. See you soon and
Happy Beading,
Linda

What better time to learn a new crafting skill than just in time for holiday creating? In Beading Basics you will learn basic single strand stringing, how to flesh out a piece and add texture with spacers and how to professionally attach a clasp. (crucial to keeping it all together). Design and composition are also touched on. Get going now and you've plenty of time to create all of your special gifts! Book early!

ODD COUNT PEYOTE STITCH: THURSDAY, JULY 20, 1 PM, W/LINDA, FEE: $22.50, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

Have you mastered Even Count Peyote Stitch and are a bit intimidated by Odd Count? Or just new to Peyote Stitch altogether? This class is just for you. We've spent a lot of time in past classes learning Even Count Peyote Stitch, which is the most commonly used form. There are times, however when an odd count is needed or recommended to achieve a certain result. Although Odd Count Peyote is not difficult, there is an odd little turn around to get your stitching going in the right direction. This turn can sometimes seem a bit intimidating to a new beader (and even the more experienced). Having someone to show you the way of it can be a big help. This class will set you up of any of the other peyote stitch classes offered here this quarter. Register early!

And so many bead choices! Go earthy and organic or bling it up!

BASIC EARRINGS: THURSDAY, AUGUST 10, 1 PM, W/LINDA, FEE: $22.50, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

Earrings are beadings "instant gratification". Once you know how, you can have a new piece of jewelry in under 10 minutes. There are so many possibilities when it comes to earring making. But no matter the components used, a wrapped loop is essential. Not difficult to execute, but having the proper tools and technique make it a pleasure. In this class we'll practice wrapped loops and a couple of other earring styles as time and interest allows.

KUMIHIMO (JAPANESE BRAIDING): FRIDAY, AUGUST 11, 1:00 PM, W/ SUE DAIGLE, FEE: $25, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

Japanese Braiding or "Kumihimo" is an ancient art form that dates back to around 8000 BC, yet fits into our contemporary society quite well. Meaning a "Gathering of Threads", Kumihimo braids were used as personal adornment such as obi-jime ties, ropes to bind ancient scrolls, and were presented by emperors to heroes and others who earned high honors. Today they lend themselves well to belts, trims, handbag straps and, of course, jewelry. This relaxing form of beaded braiding works up quite quickly and makes beautiful, affordable and very unique gifts. This class always fill quickly so reserve your seat early. Ask for a materials list as a small amount of prep work is necessary prior to the class.

WIREWORKS: BORDER WRAP, SATURDAY, AUGUST 12, 10:30 AM, W/MIG LEMIRE, FEE: $55, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

If you loved the Wire Sculpting class with Mig, you'll love Border Wrap. The second in the WIREWORKS series, this class teaches you how to showcase a cabochon or other flat backed stone by incasing the edges in a neatly bound wire wrap. You'll learn to create exquisite sterling, silver filled or gold filled border wrapped slides and pendants. (They look great in copper, too.) Bring your own stones or pick from our beautiful selections. (This is a standalone class. You do not need to have taken Wire Sculpting to accomplish this technique. This technique will spring board you into many other wire wrapped pieces).

SIDE BY SIDE BRACELET: WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16, 6 PM, W/LINDA, FEE: $22.50, SKILL LEVEL: NOVICE (Experience with basic peyote stitch)

A sweet little bracelet. Made in two sections and joined with basic netting, this is a simple project with knowledge of basic peyote stitch. Your choice of beads will make it simple or sophisticated, glitzy or organic. Flat to the wrist and comfortable to wear. A great gift, too!

KUMODO BRACELET (FLAT SPIRAL): THURSDAY, AUGUST 17, 1 PM, W/LINDA, FEE: $22.50, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

HERRINGBONE ROPE WITH STATIONS: SATURDAY, AUGUST 19, 10:30, W/CHERIE FRITH, FEE: $25, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

Love those lovely long ropes? Here's one that is simple enough for a newbie. Straight herringbone stitch is easy to accomplish and Cherie will show you how. Interspersed with crystal, pearls or different colored seed beads, make it uniquely yours.

SUNFLOWER BRACELET: WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 23, 6 PM, W/TRUDY KOPYC, FEE: $25, SKILL LEVEL: NOVICE (Some experience with hand weaving recommended)

SHELL GAME (Design by Jill Wiseman): SATURDAY, AUGUST 24, 1 PM, W/LINDA, FEE: $25, SKILL LEVEL: NOVICE

Quite popular when offered in the winter quarter, this Double Spiral Rope creates and interesting "conch shell" pattern as the piece progresses. Perfect for summer wear. Seed beads and bugles give it it's unique shape. Whether you've done a spiral rope before or not, this is easy to accomplish with a bit of hand weaving experience. Register early!

FREEFORM PEYOTE: SATURDAY, AUGUST 26, 10:30 A.M., W/MARIE JACQUES, FEE: $25, SKILL LEVEL: NOVICE (Experience with basic peyote stitch mandatory)

YOU ASKED FOR IT! Take your love for peyote stitch to a new level. Folks who have taken it previously have been having such fun exploring the endless possibilities for combining seed and novelty beads into unique art jewelry! You've marveled at the seemingly random beauty of Freeform Peyote stitch. How do they do it? Stitching seems to branch off every which way with different size beads interjected everywhere? What may seem random usually does have a plan (of sorts). Marie will show you how to jumpstart your creativity. You'll start with a thin band and build from there. Where will your imagination take you? This is just a sample of where your imagination may go. Bring all your odd beads and see how to bring them all together beautifully!

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 30 TBA
